Outdoor Classroom Day

21st May 2020

WHAT IS OUTDOOR CLASSROOM DAY?

Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to inspire and celebrate outdoor play and learning, at home and at school. On Outdoor Classroom Day itself, which has two dates each year, teachers usually organise a special day outdoors for their class. In response to the coronavirus crisis, the movement will look a bit different in 2020.

Following consultation with teachers and parents around the world, we are launching Playful Nature!

As the coronavirus crisis continues, children around the world are spending more time indoors and in front of screens. Our community of teachers and parents are concerned about the impact this is having on children’s wellbeing.

Connecting to nature can restore our sense of wellbeing. For children, this connection is best made through play – whether outdoors in nature or indoors with natural elements.

Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing ideas for connecting to nature through play that can be done from anywhere – like your garden, balcony or even your living room! And on 21 May, which should have been the next Outdoor Classroom Day, we’re inviting you to celebrate your connection to the natural world by bringing Playful Nature to everyone.

Bring Playful Nature to everyone on 21 May
